Valve is trying to end account smurfing in ‘Dota 2’

Valve has released a new update for Dota 2 which it says is focused on “improving the matchmaking experience” in the popular multiplayer game. One of the major new changes is a requirement that asks players to register a phone number to play in ranked online multiplayer matches. From April 20, players have two weeks to register their mobile phone number. However, from May 4, accounts that do not have a phone number linked to it will no longer be able to participate in ranked play. Phone numbers can be unlinked from an account so that a new one can be swapped in, but there is a three-month waiting period before the original number can be tied to a new account. This, Valve says, “is to prevent using the same number on multiple accounts. The update also brings back the Solo Queue, so players in ranked matchmaking can opt to only be matched up with other solo players. The ban will start at a low threshold of a few hours, and increase up to four days for players who are very frequently in low priority. Valve has also improved detection for “clear cases of intentional feeding,” which involves players sacrificing themselves to the enemy so the opposing hero can accrue experience and power quicker. Additionally, bot detection has been improved.

Matchmaking

First of all, Valve, decided to scrap the concept of solo and party MMR, in order to push players to play with their friends and basically socialize. The concept of party and solo MMR was that the power was given to the player in order to decide whether one wants to queue for a solo game or a party game. Valve basically transitioned the ranked roles matchmaking system from the Dota plus to the normal matchmaking system making it available to everyone.

Then we compare the DOTA 2 matchmaking system in other sector to make [13,14] where the software can be implemented with a mobile application and can.

Good riddance I say, as cheating in any online multiplayer game, should be punished and done so swiftly and to the maximum extent possible. The great thing about all this is that Valve promises to issue subsequent ban waves in the coming weeks. The news comes from a tweet by the official Dota 2 Twitter account, stating that:. There will be subsequent ban waves in the coming weeks. We do not support or condone the use of any third-party modifications during matchmade games. The use of third-party programs is how players are able to cheat, with the most notable being an auto-hex scripting that affects in-game mechanics.

Think instant use of sheep stick on a Tinker and you can see how devastating and unfair some of these third-party programs can be. However, one has to remember that some third-party programs and especially things like Reshade might not actually help a player win, but Valve does not condone any third-party modifications at all.

For those using a harmless modification, I suggest you stop using it right away to avoid any possible future ban.

How to fix frequent Dota 2 issues [COMPLETE GUIDE]

Valve is changing the way Dota 2 is played, at least on a meta level. Beginning May 4th , players will be required to register a unique phone number to their accounts in order to queue up for ranked matches. That’s one account per phone number, ostensibly placing a hard limit on the number of ranked accounts that any one player can have. Before you get any fresh ideas, Valve says online services that provide virtual phone numbers won’t work in this new system.

Dota 2 ranked matchmaking has been seeing some weird things happen for the last few weeks. After TI9, Valve has made it a point to.

A comprehensive matchmaking system is an important factor in being able to enjoy playing Dota, regardless of which hero or role you prefer. Matchmaking involves various tradeoffs and our goal is to find the best balance between all the different factors. There are two major aspects with this change: 1 the teamplay and social aspect and 2 the value and correctness of the MMR value.

For the teamplay aspect: We think it is really crucial for you to not have a disincentive to play with your friends. The game currently overly emphasizes playing solo and establishes a strong social reward mechanism for this, which causes many players to prefer playing alone than with friends. We believe that bias has over time caused more negativity and unhappiness when playing Dota.

Dota 2 is losing players, which will make finding games harder for the players who are left. But it is a troubling sign for what was once the dominant force in Steam gaming. What’s causing players to leave? That can be hard to pin down, but we have a few ideas. A new player toxicity system was implemented earlier last year that is handing out 2-decade bans for excessively toxic player behavior.

That has likely caused more than a few forceful ejections from the Dota 2 community, given the legendary toxicity that online MOBAs endure. Another factor might be the Hong Kong protests. Besides causing a significant number of Hong Kong players to stop playing in order to take part in the protests, players were also banned from Dota 2 for typing in anti-China messages during The International But the most likely reason is just that Dota 2 is old.
